Yoga at Southlake Integrative Counseling & Wellness

Southlake Integrative Counseling & Wellness offers a holistic approach to mental and physical well-being, emphasizing the mind-body connection as a core part of their therapeutic philosophy.

Yoga at Southlake Integrative Counseling & Wellness is likely integrated as a supportive wellness service designed to enhance stress management, emotional regulation, and physical health, aligning with their mission to empower individuals through natural and effective nourishment of both mind and body

Our approach is personalized and comprehensive, aiming to create lasting emotional balance by combining traditional therapy with alternative modalities. This suggests that yoga services are offered not just as physical exercise but as a therapeutic tool that supports mental health, helping clients reduce anxiety, improve mindfulness, and foster a deeper connection with themselves.

Our center’s dedication to holistic care means yoga is part of a broader strategy to promote healing and growth, making it a valuable complement to our  counseling and psychiatric services. This integration helps clients experience wellness on multiple levels, supporting their journey toward optimal and fulfilling lives.

1. Mindful Movement Together

Gentle partner yoga and mindful movement that feels fun and connection-focused:

  • Animal Poses — kids love playful shapes like cat/cow, downward dog, frog pose.
  • Mirroring Movement — stand or sit facing each other, copy each other’s gentle moves.
  • Partner Poses — simple shapes like back-to-back seated twists, double tree pose, or partner boat pose.

2. Shared Breath & Body Awareness

Teach simple ways to settle their nervous systems together:

  • Belly Breathing — place hands on each other’s belly and feel the rise and fall.
  • Flower & Candle Breath — smell the flower (inhale) and blow out the candle (exhale).
  • Body Scan Story — lead a gentle “magical body” script to relax head to toe.

3. Storytime Mindfulness

Especially great for younger kids:

  • Read a short mindful story or poem.
  • Add yoga poses that go along with the story.
  • End with a short discussion: “How did your body feel? What was your favorite part?”

4. Loving-Kindness Practice

Simple ways to plant seeds of compassion:

  • Sit heart-to-heart or hold hands.
  • Guide them to silently repeat: “May I be happy, may you be happy, may all beings be happy.”
  • Share a hug or “gratitude high five” at the end.

5. Mindful Creative Activity

Combine art and mindfulness:

  • Mindful Mandalas — color or draw together in silence, noticing breath and feelings.
  • Gratitude Jar — write down things they’re grateful for and share them.
  • Nature Mandala — gather leaves, sticks, flowers, and make a pattern on the floor.

6. Mindful Games

Keep it fun and age-appropriate:

  • Listening Walk — walk slowly together and whisper what you hear.
  • Heartbeat Game — jump up and down, then place a hand on each other’s hearts and feel them slow down.
  • Freeze Dance Mindfulness — play music, dance, and when it stops, take a mindful breath.
